Cavani. We are pretty strong in central midfield, all things considered, but not up front. Throw Giroud into the deal to make it easier!

50m for someone who may well be past his prime, heading into his 30s and hasn't been at his best for a couple of seasons seems like an awfully big risk.

Even last year when they were under heavy sanctions PSG did not sell anyone significant and still spunked £50m on David Luiz. But yeah, I'm sure they'll be selling all their best players, you've just got to bid a bit over the odds for them. #wishfulthinking

Cavani is clearly an upgrade on Giroud IMO. Every transfer is a risk, but the level he has shown at PSG has still been quite a bit better than anything Giroud has done here IMO.
Tim, I am not saying they WILL sell, but, perhaps, they would at least entertain it. They have other holes to fill in their squad tbh, and the FFP seems to at least hinder them.

Verratti is going to be one of the top 5 midfielders in the world over the next decade. I'd play Mertesacker up front next season if I could have him.

Alaba has never looked that amazing as a centre mid when I've seen him though. Immense left back but not worth breaking the bank for as a central midfielder imo.

Didn't they buy Luiz at the start of the transfer window & before the sanctions?
Talk was they'd sell Cavani IF they were able to secure the likes if Di Maria as a direct replacement,
which is what makes the recent talk re Di Maria so interesting.
There is also talk that they are looking to sell Zlatan which would allow Cavani to play CF.

I'm not so much after an amazing player as opposed to one who actually suits the position & role in regards to our preferred style of play & requirements. In that regard IMO NONE of our available options meet that criteria & ALL of them require some sort of compromise re style/tempo, defensive cover or shape/partner.

He's good in midfield but he's a bit too Ramsey-ish. I think people assume he'd be a top DM because he's a defender but his instinct is to go up and back all the time. He's a great player and I wouldn't say no but he's not a perfect, easy fit into our team.
