Would hate it, if he was playing for us. So cumbersome and no footballing intelligence. Not a striker for top clubs, but will deliver for a midtable one.

Either Giroud isn't a striker for a top club, because he is a striker at Arsenal, or Giroud is not good enough to be the striker for a top club. Either interpretation is valid I suppose. 🙂

This Benzema chap seems to have scored 20 plus in the league once in 6 seasons. Is he any better than Giroud?

Benzema would instantly make the team title contenders. Either him Higuain or Ibrahimovic and call it a day.

that Benzema chap plays next to a guy who score 50 goals a season. he doesn't need to score. same with James and others in the Madrid line-up.
in any case, it's his movement that will make us more dangerous. he is much more flexible in the box, and will be able to run with Sanchez, Ozil and Walcott a lot better than Giroud does.
would be a nightmare for defenders to deal with that lot.

To ignite another wonderful discussion, here is a comparison of what we have and what we could have. Benzema is superior to Giroud in almost every sense, Higuain has really good stats, but anyone who has seen him live knows that he's nowhere as good as Benzema. I dont know why i included Benteke. Guess to show that things could always be worse than having Giroud ...

I dont know why or how, but if by a miracle Benzema should become available, i hope we're there to take him.

I find these Whoscored surface comparisons between various footballers a bit pointless, because players aren't performing according to positions. They're performing according to the needs of their current team in that team's specific system. Mistaking good numbers for good quality will land you guys like Richard Wright and Denilson.

Benzema could probably score 30 goals if you put him up front in a team with decent support, for instance. But at Real Madrid he's the support. He's there to make Ronaldo's, Bale's and James's life easier. There aren't many strikers in Europe who could do what he does for them.

Ironically after this past season I think Higuain could do that as well. Obviously his team mates are a level or two below Benzema's but every time I've seen him play this season he's played a very similar role to Benzema, dropping deep to link up and opening spaces for Mertens, Hamsik or Callejon who are all extremely direct players. He's far from the tap-in merchant most seem to think he is, think he could reinvigorate his career here.

At 1:57 for example, not exactly Jermain Defoe, is he.
