United always played with 2 deep central midfielders, pretty much always did under Ferguson. Pogba is not that type of player. He suits a formation where he is given the licence to run forward. United under Ferguson never played with an offensive central midfielder. When Scholes was scoring goals, he was used up front behind the striker.

They used their full backs in CM at one point, if you can get those two or fucking Rooney playing a role as defensive midfielders you should be able to tell Pogba to stay put.

Fungus fucked up on this one big time. You don't let that kind of talent slip through without giving him a chance.

He did a lot of stuff towards the end that screwed them over in the medium term. He wrecked Kagawa too. Any half-decent manager would have found better use for him. His neck was like a slinky after watching all those crosses flying over his head in midfield.

He left their squad in horrible shape and appointed David fucking Moyes as his successor, he definitely fucked them over. If he really cared about United's long term well being he wouldn't have just signed RVP the season before he left.

we should definitely bid for de gea this summer.

at worst it just unsettles him a bit, at best, real madrid will come in and completely turn his head and then hes off.

without him, they'd be like 10th in the league. hes the best keeper in the league.

Fair enought, but only to driving the price real madrid will pay higher.

No way will united accept a bid from us and they will have plenty of other offers on the table.

Coentrao. Madrid are rumored to be interested in Gaya, and Coentrao isn't super happy in Madrid. Still an excellent player and only 26, and would finally get us a world class left back.

WIth all due respect, Ceontrao is not that good and he wouldnt be an upgrade on Monreal.

Coentrao is about as good as Monreal defensively, which means slightly above average, but he is significantly better in attack.

Danilo fees are sky high. It's not worth it. I would rather go for Clyne.

I have a soft spot for Alex Sandro, since we are now talking about players from the Portuguese league. He has always impressed me when I have seen him.

As for Coentrao/Marcelo, I think Marcelo is a lot better than Coentrao both defensively and offensively. Marcelo got poor reputation for his defending when he first came to Europe, and rightly so because he was quite poor, but for some reason that impression has stuck with him. I'd argue that he has improved leaps and bounds defensively over the years, and he has been an excellent DEFENDER for at least 4 years to go along with his offensive arsenal.

Coentrao is a very good defensive player and overall a rounded fullback. Not sure what player people in this thread are thinking of. Main issue with him is that he's a bit injury prone, but the Madrid fans I know rate him just behind Marcelo.
