If we sold Welbeck and Wilshere we'd get 45-50m.

Now's as bad a time as any to sell Wilshere. Let him come back from injury and try to have a healthy season. If in that healthy season he fulfills his promise, we keep him. If he doesn't, we sell him. This year, he's been sick, ineffective and filling his lungs with smoke. Nobody would pay more than 15 million pounds for this carcass right now

I prefer Welbeck to Walcott at wide forward.

Qs, in an ideal world, I prefer neither. Sanchez and Oxlade are my starters at wide forward. Welbeck is a decidedly average player but at least he puts in a Dirk Kuyt-style shift at wide forward. Walcott often looks like a guy who got lost while looking for his seat in the stands!

I can't agree with that. Walcott is excellent. Sure if you want a defensive winger he's not going to give you that but if you want a dangerous wide man in a functional 4-3-3 he's brilliant. He is super fast and scores goals.

Welbecks just an average player. Looks better out wide than up top because he gets more space. His lack of of a first touch or any sort of close control means he'll never be a good striker. On the wing as you say he's all running and work rate, very little else.

You know your team balance is fucked up when you are choosing defensive work rate over attacking ability in you wing forward position.

That's why I had these chumps out the door and on the bench. I think Oxlade and Sanchez both give us a great two-way effort. If you want a purely offensive guy, then you go get Hazard, Griezmann, Reus, etc., but we don't have the budget right now. We need to sort out the spine. We need 4 players down the centre sharpish and Walcott can help us fund that. Weakening our wings slightly to strengthen our core significantly is a deal I will make without blinking.

I'd be happy with Higuain/Benzema/Lewandowski at CF instead of Cavani.
If we have height and physicality in midfield and a balanced spine I'd even look at a CF who is more front to goal and primarily a finisher like a Martinez or Falcao (I think Falcao's price will drop as a result of this season's struggles).

Benzema would be the big summer transfer, think he could lift Sanchez to another level as well, Ronaldo stats level.

Walcott was fine in our Sth American based 4231 shape & roles last season, but if not played as a SS he's more of a luxury player than any of Podolski or Ozil.

He's decent in our Western European based 4231 too IMO
