Been thinking about the squad and whether we really can win the League.
Szczesny at goalkeeper is just about good enough, and Ospina might even take him out, or failing that, push him on to a better level.
Centre back is well stocked with quality, but maybe lacking one more experienced body. Chambers looks a superstar defender in the making.
Right back I'm perfectly content with. Debuchy has looked very capable and Bellerin is up to the job of covering for him.
Left back I'm not happy with, but it'll have to do. Gibbs is a crock, sadly, and Monreal is too easy to get at defensively. Too late in the day to move Monreal on and bring in someone better.
Centre midfield is all wrong. Balance isn't right between the players. Need more power and athleticism. We can get by because they're all good players in there, but to finish the season as the best team in the country we need a really good player to come in.
Wide positions are great if we're playing both Sanchez and Walcott there, even if one of them plays up front we've got Chamberlain who's on the cusp of becoming a consistent contributor for us. Cazorla's a brilliant footballer, but, in my opinion, he's not a forward in any way and should not be playing so high up the pitch unless it's as a Number 10 with the attack built round him. Still, we're not doing too badly here at all. Sanchez is just what we needed out there.
If we don't get a proper striker then we're not winning the League. Unless Walcott or Sanchez can do something special there and with the constraints of the system we play, my gut says it's not going to happen. Sanogo is utterly useless at the moment and Giroud is a level below what we need.
In summary; I don't care about getting in players like Manolas and Rabiot for depth, I'll take Monreal being the 4th choice centre half if it means we go out and spend some serious money on a centre midfielder and a centre forward.
We need top quality in those two vital positions. The money is there, do it Arsenal!
So my wish is for Vidal and Cavani (why the feck not?).
