Kicker are suppose to be quite reliable aren't they? It might be true but they've got a lot of players who can play his role, Robben+Ribery still imo have a few good years ahead of them and had it not been for so many injuries a few of their midfielders wouldn't be getting games. He seems like someone who wants game. End of the day if Bayern call and say we'll pay the release clause wait until the summer they ain't gonna sell for less to us. Will need to act early on this one if we want him.
I'll ask some of the German fans on redcafe what their views are.

my suspicion is that schalke didnt sell because they couldnt acquire holtby to replace him. they werent about to just tank their season for 36m.
Personally I hold that view as well, they couldn't get a replacement in and then the money we offered wasn't enough to entice them to sell without a replacement.
