He is not better than Suarez. The bitey racist is one of the most dangerous marksmen in the world.

One question though - has there ever been a time when so many top strikers are at around 1 goal per game? Has the number of goals/game gone up in Europe in the last 10 or 15 years?

I think he is the better footballer overall. Suarez lacks vision and the ability to get others into play say like Henry did. He isn't a complete player. I do agree though that at the level he has found this season, a player like him could influence more games directly. This is why forwards almost always cost more.

He has created a ridiculous amount of chances this season, for comparison:

Suarez: 19 appearances, 23 goals, 54 chances created.
Ozil: 19 appearances, 4 goals, 55 chances created.
Hazard: 23 appearances, 9 goals, 60 chances created
Oscar: 21 appearances, 6 goals, 29 chances created
Rooney: 19 appearances, 9 goals, 42 chances created

Bild reporting on Thursday afternoon last week we made a €36 million offer for Draxler. Seems like a fair price to me but Schalke want more or they didn't want to let him go this window.

Am thinking it might be a good idea to re-open the Draxler thread as there seems to be new information coming out regarding attempt to sign him.

Fair fucks to Wenger for having a go. Hard to sign german players that Bayern want. Ah well.

Bayern would be a good move for him tbh, he'd pretty much have a guarantee of silverware, and Ribery is 31 in April so there's a clear route to the first team.

They would have sold. We just didn't offer enough.

He might need to choose his words with care but he's not racist, hasn't bitten anyone in close to a year now, and his diving has been reduced to a minimum.

He's quite clearly the best striker, and arguably the best player in the league right now.

We've got 300 mill. Sign him up Arsene!

Don't think Draxler will want to go to Bayern at all; he has said many times that it is very important for him to be selected for games more times than not. Hardly see that being the case should he join Bayern. From the little I have heard from him he seems a fairly grounded and intelligent boy.

Flo, I respect you believing they would have sold to us, but I think otherwise. From what Rodgers said, and more importantly their owner said, selling to us was completely out of the question. I respect that stance too; I generally think it is an idiotic idea to sell a top player to a club you want to usurp.

True, but the football business is a business as much as any other. That business is essentially what has put us in the strong financial position we are in today. Irresistible offers are made, irresistible offers are taken. The player himself had a foot out the door already.

Don't care much about him anymore as that ship has sailed, but I do believe we could have got Suarez in if we reeeeally wanted to, and it would've been worth it- He'd have provided both goals and good resale potential.

He does seem to have his head screwed on right and not looking for the big money move. While Bayern always seems to be the favoured move for German players in this case he will be competing with a lot of players who are playing at a higher level than him.

I think there was potential for a deal to be done because he was serving a long ban so they might of had enough. Also Rodgers knew he needed more players so would of raised funds for that. Problem was our bid was a piss take and it just pissed them off to the point where the owner ruled out any sale to us. I reckon they would of taken £50mill for him and they did mention Cavani's price when talking about Suarez but wasn't until later when they flat out refused to do business.

Suarez was magnificent last season too before he got suspended.

i dont know.

my suspicion is that schalke didnt sell because they couldnt acquire holtby to replace him. they werent about to just tank their season for 36m.
