If Wenger wants the player, he should pay the price. We have money now. I don't think Draxler is exactly what we need, but he would clearly become a star here. Why pursue him all this time and say no over a few mil (for a player who would either play a huge number of years here or be resold for a profit)? It makes no sense to me unless Wenger is planning a mega-signing at striker in the summer.

I wonder if things had been different with Walcott around. Maybe we really were trying to knock £15-20 million off the price by offering Podolski as part of the deal but thought better of it once he became our only fit goalscorer.

It's a disgrace imo but something like this should be worded better from Ornstein. Seems more the case the board willing to pay whatever necessary but seems like someone hanging Wenger out to dry here.

No...what it shows is despite his great form this season evidence suggests he's not been that prolific over an extended period. A 6 month purple patch in a league worse than the dutch league. Big deal.

Even Mirallas had a much better goalscoring record for the very same team

Fulham obviously paid £11m for the chance that it might not be a purple patch, though. If he had the same career stats, but had scored approximately 1 in 2 all the time instead of having a rise in the numbers this season, they never would have bought him. That's why it's relevant.

honestly, about 5 times.
i saw Ronaldo once when he played against United and knew all I needed to form my opinions. my love for Benzema developed within 3 games when he was an OM rookie. it doesn't take much to know a player is amazing.
