The question is not, do we think Arsene is past it? Nor do we wnant a new start or any of the usual.

It is ... do the board want a change? if no, we can forget it. AW will announce his renewal soon.

Why would the board want him to go? Consistently gets us 'The Prize' and takes all the flack. He spends feck all compared to the rest of the top teams (there is a clue somewhere there).

He's paid shed loads to do that and no matter what we think money is a huge reason to hang on.

Do the board want to win things? I am not sure they do. They will sell the club when things are right and make a humongous profit.

Indeed Claudius, I hope that Gazidis cuts him adrift in the hope of escaping criticism himself.

People here are going overboard with the reactions against the players they are not shit, they just don't believe in Wenger anymore and once he loses the dressing room theres no way back.

It seems like he has lost the dressing room already. There is no way we are getting anything against City and I wouldn't put any money on us getting even a point at Goodison with our present form of having won only 11 of the last 27 points on offer. We have had problems before but nothing of this magnitude I would think. This is quick sand.

People are definitely going way overboard on Arteta. He's getting older and losing quite a bit of his physical ability but people saying he was never more than a midtable players etc are missing the point entirely.

Flamini always gets a bashing from certain people. Wouldn't pay any attention to that.

2 big issues need to be addressed in the summer. New striker and new manager. Generally the squads in good shape.

This makes no sense. Have we fallen so far that average footballers are good enough now? What are the ambitions of this club? Cling on to fourth every year or challenge the best teams in Europe?

If it is the latter, Arteta, Flamini, Giroud, Monreal, Podolski etc are nowhere near good enough. Our quality player (Ramsey, Ozil, Kos etc) can carry 3-4 average players each game, but they can't carry 7-8. There is far too much dross in this team.

It's actually ridiculous. We're trying to play possession football with players who would barely get into mid table sides. Players whose technical ability is at best average.

They are top 4 players. Definitely. Are they the pair you want starting for a top 4 team? No, you'd want one, how do you say, super quality player in there with one of them

None of them would get into the other top four teams. At best Arteta could be 3rd option in a team with a normal injury situation. Here, Arteta should be at best 4th option in central midfield. As for Flamini, he isn't good enough. Bang average footballer.

Because, again, what are our ambitions? Top four or competing against the best teams in Europe? If our goal is to drag ourselves into fourth every year, I can understand this loser mentality. However, If we're supposed to improve and eventually compete for the CL as well, we need better players. Much better players.

Think Qs is roughly right. Arteta's technical ability is fine he's just old. Monreal is a backup. Giroud would be replaced. Podolski's a mystery case.

But even with just a new striker our first choice would be something like:

Szczesny
[Sagna] Mert Kos Gibbs
Ramsey Wilshere
Ozil
Walcott [Striker] Cazorla

With Podolski, Chamberlain alternatives on the left and Wilshere an option on the right or midfield, and Giroud, Sanogo and possibly Campbell off the bench.

We could jettison any of Podolski, Giroud and Sanogo so long as we keep options.

After a striker, my biggest concerns are probably Jack's fitness and Sagna's prospective departure. We need a physically robust good quality midfield option and a right back.

Our biggest problems have been that our midfield has been mediocre since Ramsey injured himself and we have no firepower.

The only nailed on top 4 strarters in that line-up are Sagna, Mert, Kos, Ramsey, Ozil, and Walcott (meh).
The others are too poor or to volatile to be top 4 starters, sir. At most, I'd take about 2 of them, but we need 2-3 super quality players to augment them

Gibbs isn't much better. You can have 2-3 average players in a set up, if the rest are proper quality. However, we only have 6-7 proper quality players in this team and we are plagued with injuries.

Looking at that line up, there are still some major issues that need to be sorted out. We're missing a central midfielder who can pass the ball, win challenges and cover space. Our full backs don't offer enough going forward. We don't have any strikers. And that is when our players aren't injured...

Imo, we need at least three quality players brought in this summer. Ideally, four.

And Kel, I think Wenger believes in these guys too much to do that. We need someone who would come in and say "That's it, we're bringing in Bender, Griezmann, Balotelli." I think we could get those 3 before the world cup without too much opposition.

Kallstrom in January when our two best players were out injured, he's done it again, he's lost us the title by not strengthening an unbalanced squad in January.

All that money in the bank and we get some overweight Swedish Arteta, fucking hell.

who is striker that we can realistically get who is more talented than Giroud? we are NOT getting Costa, Cavani, Falcao despite everyone's wildest fantasies. they're either not available or big clubs will pay 250k per week and we'll be left holding our dicks

The players can only play as instructed. We were dominating the game as it went to 2-1. Wenger immediately pulled Rosicky for Kallstrom to try and shore things up and as we've seen before this season that just makes us give Up possession.

Maybe so but our possession play had been poor up to that point anyway, Swansea were only sitting back to defend a lead and when the match is won you need to shore things up. We've come off a tough result at Chelsea so this match was just about getting 3 points by hook or crook. Wenger made the right call because Rosicky was tiring and giving the ball away needlessly. Kallstrom actually looked half decent when he came on, problem was our players not really digging in but going for glory and leaving us exposed. You can't just put all the blame on the manager for that, Gibbs had a mare defensively yesterday.

They are backup players and nothing more but in some areas our first choice players leave a lot to be desired.

I do think Wenger should get one more year to turn things around, only last summer he's had a chance to spend some serious money and we did get a top class player in Ozil. Our position in the league doesn't reflect our quality imo, you don't lead for us long as we did without being half decent. The injuries to our squad have destroyed our season, all key players as well.
