The PL is very different to la Liga, I don't think that what works there will work here.

@ Nela, I think Steve Bould would be a good choice to steady the ship, very important to clean out the
Wenger rot.
But I'm not sure if he'd be the man to take us to the next level he'd have to prove himself, we might need a Benitez or an Ancelotti.
And if all else fails we could turn to Jesus, Jorge Jesus that is.

Not heard him mentioned and I'm not sure we could get him at the mo but Rudi Garcia gets his teams playing good footy

Wenger may not appoint his successor like Ferguson but obviously he will be asked by Gazidis, and his man will be near the top of the shortlist, which is fair enough, given his extensive knowledge of the game.

I do fear we will make a right circus out of our next managerial appointment.

Wenger's actually made it much easier for the new manager. Unlike Ferguson he isn't leaving behind an average team, not to mention our financial status. But do go on about this so called Wengerian rot.

Promoting the number 2 like Steve Bould is a bad idea. The players don't take the former underling seriously. The secret footballer talks about this. Plus I find it hard to believe that a clean break from the previous regime can come from the assistant.

Yep. Theres 2 guys that really stand out for me - Martinez and Garcia.

Ferguson left a title winning side with some deficiencies. If our next manager fails to deliver, you'll see more cracks in this side than United.

How likely is it that wenger will sign anyway when the contract has been there for a year and he still doesn't know what he wants to do?

Spate of signing up players might be an indication that the board know he may well want to walk off at the end of this contract whatever happens.

I thought it was virtually signed anyway? Gazidis pretty much said so and Wenger hinted as much himself. I find the whole thing bizarre.

The moment it was signed the club would have announced it. Ivan might want to blow smoke around and pretend that it is a done deal, but the reality is he hasn't signed and there is obviously a reason behind that. At no point would he want to announce his retirement during the season as it is a total distraction that isn't needed, but I can't see what more there is left to convince him he wants another 3+ years at the club.
