For the first time in a long time we have a good team to build on; Scezny in goal, solid CB partnership, Ramsey with Ozil + decent others in midfield, just lacking some world class quality up front and a few other areas. This summer is the opportunity to get a team that can really challenge for multiple honours...make it happen Arsene!

Exactly we've been 'three signings away' for the past 13 years!

Because unlike the past 13 years we have money to spend and a great platform to build upon. A platform that Wenger has built. This current squad is completely different to a few years ago and this summer we will hold onto our best players unlike previous years.

If we had kept our players fit last season I reckon we would of won the title so we aren't as far away as people here like to think.

Well we tried to sign Diego Costa but he didn't want to join. Not a single striker moved in the window who would have significantly improved us.

Some have fallen into the trap of thinking that Wenger's faffing about in the transfer market in recent years has been about money available when it's mostly about his warped sense of value and ridiculous negotiating schedule.

Look at Liverpool, they've shored up the CF spot by signing Lambert. Boom. Done. Obviously the super quality usually takes longer but our August brinkmanship is well known and very unnecessary. This is down to Wenger. I highly doubt we will strengthen properly at all. I agree with Rex, Jed, Alf and Kel. I'm dissatisfied and disappointed that he's signed for 3 years as I don't think improvements in tactics, mentality, or most importantly transfers are forthcoming. I'll happily eat my words if wrong.

FA cup and people are still complaining. We would've had more if Ramsey and ozil didn't get injured. We'll see how the summer is but I have high hopes that we'll sign a couple of great players.

I don't think this window will be anything different to the last one.

Wenger doesn't have a clue about serious squad building and will paper over issues like RB and CM even if he sorts out the single CF problem we have. Also who is going to be decent enough Gk to push Woj but be happy with a bench spot?

If Wenger goes out and gets Rabiot, Aurier, Mandzucik, and a GK we will be fine

Oh I think we will sign a class striker, but watch Wenger leave us short either in midfield or at right back. Right now I think Wenger will sign another right back roughly at Jenkinson's level.

Oh well, at least that's 4th place wrapped up for the next 3 seasons.

We've been over this and enumerated a handful of players who could've put in more than Sanogo. Villa and Berbatov both moved for two. And what about the summer? Why was it Suarez or bust?

Every successful Wenger side has had a couple of crafty surplus strikers to chip in. Fans who admire Wenger's successes should look to how he achieved them. It certainly wasn't by not having strikers in the squad, or not being too fussed about racking up wins as we "build confidence for next season" from first place in league.

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm not indifferent, I'm disappointed he's re-signed. Shows a lack of imagination from all parties.

Maybe a player who could have improved us significantly would have moved last window if we had made a genuine effort to sign one. I appreciate that it's not easy, but you don't get to screw up two transfer windows in a row and then just blame the second one on the first screwup.

That being said, it was pretty obvious that we didn't take things seriously way before the window opened. There's no mystery to these things contrary to popular belief. Wenger said he wasn't looking for anyone in particular in January, and to his credit, we weren't very particular when we finally signed Källström. This time around he says that he wants to get some business done early. It sounds good to me.

It's a short life, and to me this announcement means a strong likelihood of three more frustrating years.

As you say, it's not that complicated. All the clubs winning major trophies have stronger and deeper squads than us so Wenger needs to stop pretending he's got magic beans. Will he? Doubt it.

Anyway this conversation is as unchanging as Wenger. See what happens and get behind the squad I guess.

Like the summer of 2012 when we had wrapped up the signings of Podolski & Giroud by June? Apart from Lambert no other club has announced they've done business yet, it's only May so plenty of time to go. The World Cup will disrupt every clubs transfer business this summer

Not signing a striker back in 1998 cost us as well not the first time we've been short up top! We tried to sign Villa but Barca wouldn't sell and I doubt Berbatov went to Monaco on low wages. Would he really have improved us?

Our pursuit of Suarez cost us big time last summer and important this time round we have other options rather than going all in for one player. We were so confident of that deal (mainly due to his release clause) we didn't seem to have a backup plan and it cost us. According to Gazidis his release clause was legit so it should have been a simple case of paying the right amount and signing the player. Bidding over £40m for him and Ozil shows the club is willing to pay big money for the right players and that marks a big change in policy which is positive
