depressing but true. there arent really any worthwhile candidates available out there, otherwise id want him gone imediately. consigned to a few more years of wengers 'day late, buck short' team building

Would welcome Rudi Garcia as well if he were willing to leave Roma. Given the amount of money Wenger makes, I'm sure people like Garcia and Martinez can be persuaded to move. The problem is Wenger not wanting to leave, not the lack of alternatives.

There is nothing to indicate that is the case. Both managers you list have only been there for a year so we'd have to first convince their clubs to let them go & compensate them. Both look to be building there and are young, they might not want to move just yet. Martinez I hear is getting involved in revamping the training facilities & youth set up so doesn't sound like he'd leave quickly. Managers unlike players usually think more long term than short, just look at Klopp

Man, it's a good job that we are Gooners eternally rather than just THIS life. Otherwise I may never see the back of 4th place celebrations.

I would gladly (yes gladly) take a year out of the top 4 if we took a punt (a good well thought out punt) on a new manager and it went a bit wrong.

I didn't get where I am today without taking a punt and moving on. Oh no.

Though of course that punt could well move us to a title win. Just as easily.

You know what stasis does don't you? Gives you Status Quo ... and we all know how awful they were. Give me The Cult anyday. they weren't afraid to evolve from crap Goth band from Bradford to Stadium rockers.

Given our reputation for being patient, we should certainly be a good candidate for any manager with long-term thinking. The Arsenal job won't come up too often most likely, so when there is a vacancy, I'm sure managers at smaller clubs (such as Garcia and Martinez) will be interested, regardless of their current affiliations. Unlike Chelsea or City, we are not a managerial merry-go-round where the job comes up every 2 or 3 years (I know we only have one manager's track record to say this, but our board and ownership certainly does tolerate mediocrity, so what's to say that will change).

i am happy he is staying. buy a proper striker and he can still turn it around. i would hate it if he was remembered as an old senile fool

Maybe 10 years after he's gone Rex we can look at things with the benefit of hindsight from the cold eye of history.
But at the moment he's still here fucking things up and ruining our football lives, we need him gone asap.

if we want to switch up the flow

the people who are afraid often point to the Moyes experience at United. don't forget that the 3 clubs above us all have managers appointed in the last two years

Thought about De Boer. His Ajax team plays some fantastic football, but they are very soft and can result in some very humiliating defeats. His european results leave alot to be desired too.

Why can't United find a better manager than van Gaal if there are so many candidates? They're a bigger draw than we are.

De Boer head coach, Bergkamp assistant - we'd be set against Argentinian players at least.
