They probably also thought Denilson and Bendtner would work out...

Cesc's technique is out of this world too, to be fair. Maybe not in terms of dribbling but only Özil is close to him in terms of putting perfect weight on every single pass he plays. He could have spotted openings all day without being able to exploit them with a lesser right foot on him.

he's 5'10 or something
Zelalem looks technically brilliant too.

Both could have been good players with the right attitude.

Sure. So let's hope we're not saying the same of Zelly when he hits 25.

1.86m according to wiki.
You said it yourself, he doesn't look it. These sites always get these sort of things wrong.
No way he's taller than Verm and Kos and they're 5'11
kos and verm are clearly not the same height, kos is taller.
anyway, zel is 5'11" according to the premier league website (i assume the clubs submit that info to them in the squad lists).
They're clearly the exact same size.
I thought players can't sing contracts longer than 2 year before they are 19?
30k a week is insane though, you have no idea where this player is going but if he starts at that level the next one will be 60k, then 120k before the kid is 22.

well according to the premier league and uefa and whoever else arsenal submit their info to: verm is 5'11" and kos is 6'1". and then there are your eyes.
They have Arteta at 1.83m on those websites.
Pretty sure the club doesn't submit anything. Not even sure the club measures the players, not sure why they would.

I doubt it. He's Ethiopian. Ethiopians are not really known for their explosiveness and physical strength. They're more renowned for their endurance.
Zelalem will prosper due to his intelligence and technical ability rather than physical attributes. I think he will be similar to Cesc in terms of pace and strength.

His first touch was as good as Bergkamp's, gives him more time on the ball and he can take an opposition player out of the game with his touch alone.
