Didn't they buy a stake in some MLS club as well recently? Mental how much money they have to just splash around.
What the actual fuck? Did city really just buy a football club?
No, Abu Dhabi+ friends have.
Ahh, that makes more sense! I had read a headline elsewhere saying that city had.
David Villa confirmed for a 10 game loan with Melbourne Heart (or now officially called Melbourne City). Pretty big coup for the A League.
It is pretty massive. My employer is a major sponsor of Heart (oops I mean City) so might have to see if I can get my hands on some free tickets and take my daughter to see him play.
Bet they don't play in Wellington during that time. The FFA will probably take the piss and arrange 3 Melbourne derbies in the first 10 rounds.
That would be pretty sweet!
Haha. Well this will make a splash in Australia.
It'd be hilarious if billionaires started buying out all the A-League clubs to get resident status here or something 😆
😆 I was just saying to a friend that I anticipated supporting the Perth Abramovich in a couple of years. Sounds better than "Glory" anyway.
😆
Who on earth would want to live out in Australia? 😉
'Straya!
Fixtures out and Melbourne City play in Wellington in round 8 so we may get to see Villa. Trouble is most home games tend to be 5pm Sunday and over summer I play 5-a-side at 7pm on Sundays so can never usually go as there's not enough time in between to make it.
Sacrifices may need to be made Invis!
And now Lampard is joining them too! Given the popularity of the Premier League in this part of the world this is probably a bigger deal to people than Villa. Apparently Damien Duff has joined too but I missed that news.
Duffer is coming! Thats it I'm there, I for one welcome our new oil rich overlords.
Lampard has signed for New York and now won't be going to Melbourne. Weird because the stories before made it sound as though he had signed for Melbourne, but for whatever reason that's now not happening.
