I think that's over complicating things. Just go with a random snake draft. There are enough good players to go around.
After this one we can do an all time draft which basically makes the order meaningless.

How is a winner decided?
Well I was promoting it more for fun and discuss but if folk want a competition we either ring up the players and ask them to play against each other in real life or we vote
I say you first try ringing in the players for actual games, and only if that proves too difficult we decide on a vote.
