Very few will contest it. Shevchenko wasn't even the best player in his own team the year he won the ballon d'or. Kaká joined Milan in 03, mate. Shevchenko was only 27. Kaká was named the footballer of the year in Serie A the following year while Shevchenko went on to get the golden ball. He wasn't past his prime, he was entering it.

I may have over estimated Shevchenko as i disliked him and Milan and he was always scoring when he first came over.
Did he not win the capocannoniere twice before Kaka came and the dynamic of the team changed?
Anyways, i preferred Kaka's Milan which finally won the Scudetto a few years later.

I know it is a highlight reel but wow!
Makes me think Giroud's static positions stop him from unleashing those killer passes.
I know Theo is no CRonaldo but if he could strike up an understanding, he would get chances galore.
I used to think vp took decent corners and free kicks but a lot of them didn't trouble the opposition much yet Ozil's all seem to be potential assists.

Agree on both. The latter quite amazing still.

I had again one of these moments today, looking at some pics from training when it strikes you: "woah - we've actually signed Ozil! he's an Arsenal player!" and the subsequent stupid smile, and after a few more seconds the head shake and "how stupid are they in Madrid"? :o
