Our attacking midfielders are a big part of the problem though, Zico.
Denilson, Song and Fabregas were fantastic first half, not just on the ball, but in the tackle, lots of energy and effort. Second half they wilted, especially Denilson and Song, and barely won a tackle or closed the opposition. They don't appear to be athletic enough or strong enough to do what is required of a midfielder in a team that plays the way we do.
This really hurts because we were/are SO much better than what they are, but we simply gave it to them. Similar to the United/Chelsea defeats over the last few seasons, only worse because Spurs are a nothing team who have a couple of good players.
They didn't open us up or play any football. Each goal was gifted to them by our inept defending. I'm moving towards Biggus' views, or you could say, reverting back closer to how I used to think football should be played - 2 big strong, athletic central midfielders as the base that everything is built from.
We are just so fragile, so open. It's painful to watch when it goes wrong.
