Doesn't look spectacular On Paper but they are very balanced. That midfield is going to be very irritating to deal with.

Take a booking and put Giroud out for a couple of months, without him they are in a lot of trouble.

The problem with being a manager is it’s like trying to build an aircraft while it is flying.

It's always tough meeting Liverpool because they play with 11 men. Other teams play with 10 men and a goalkeeper.

I think the outcome of this match depends largely on the Koscielny vs. Suarez duel.

That's one way of looking at it I guess. I've always worked along the statistic that if you can dominate the game with the ball you have a 79% chance of winning a game of football.

I'm more worried about them getting low crosses and cut backs in after working Mertesacker.

Do you mean if you have more possession than the opposition?

Possibly. I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope.

Yep, when you’ve got the ball 65-70% of the time, it’s a football death for the other team. You just suck the life out of them. Death by football.

That's the key to success really. When we have the football, everybody’s a player.

Dortmund nearly won the CL with an average of 35% possession. Having the ball is good but you've got to make it count and control where the other team can hurt you in transition.

"Per aspera ad astra", Volante.

That's Latin for 'through adversity to the stars'.

He is a real warrior of spirit, that Mick McCarthy.

It only makes sense to play a dominant possession game if you have got the world's best players at your disposal, otherwise reactive (counter attacking) football is the way to go IMO.

Real Madrid have always had some of the very best players in the world, and they've always been at their best as a club playing counter attacking football.
