Theres not going to be a suitable game though is there? Wenger can't be honest and come out and say he's not going to get a game. Send him on loan i guess and see what happens but its very unlikely he has a future at Arsenal. Its a shame because i did really like what i saw at Feyenoord but its not worked out for him since.

😆

We just found a match to start him in.

Think Wenger referred to a loan for Ryo actually.

Arsenal still favourite to get Draxler (Clause: summers-45 mill euro)

  • Impressed by Arsenal training ground
  • German players #afc crucial

looks like wenger's got his hooks into the boy

Find it hard to believe that we'd spend that much on a project when we've already got Chamberlain and Gnabry.

I think Wenger is a big fan. Makes sense in the bigger perspective to sign the lad soon if he thinks that Draxler will have a Reus-like development.

i've seen enough bundesliga in the last 18 months to agree that draxler has massive potential. if we miss out on him, i think we'd be sitting here in 5 years kicking ourselves at not getting in early.

Not like we have an ocean of up-and-coming left wingers to pick and choose from either. Only Cazorla and Podolski at the moment, and one of them will probably leave within 18 months while the other one will hit 30.

Draxler isn't more of a left winger than Chamberlain or Gnabry. He's best as a #10, he's no Neymar as a left sided player.

I will say that Draxler looks a bigger talent than those two, but is the difference really worth spending 45m Euros? Definite no for me.

I'd take Dr4xxl0r ... 45m euros is slightly more than he'd cost I reckon, but 30-40m is going to be ballpark for big players now and the sooner we recognise it the better.

Won't be long before we see our first £100m signing, I'd give it a couple of years.

Draxler is definitely a leftsided player in my opinion. That's where he's made his reputation and that's where he's playing his best football. I think Chamberlain will end up centrally eventually and Gnabry looks like a rightsided player to me. Maybe he could play both flanks, I don't know. He hasn't made it yet anyhow and he might not ever make it, whereas Draxler looks like a future world beater. You could argue the pros and cons of splashing out on potential vs quality but at least the potential is undeniable. Don't think the transfer fee will be considered excessive in 2 years time either. The market is well fucked.

The question is whether we can get hold of current top quality for the same price I suppose, like we did with Özil. I don't think we can personally. Could maybe get Rooney if we're very lucky, or Benzema in the summer. The rest of the top bracket are priced at >60 million for the foreseeable future. Just wait until Real sign Suarez or City try to steal away Cavani from PSG. Reckon the 100 million barrier could be broken several times.

If Wenger thinks the kid is worth €45m then he bloody is.

I think we need another top class attacking player in addition to a striker honestly, our wing play has been nothing to write home about and part of the reason we struggle against big teams. Somebody like Draxler is such an upgrade on Podolski and Walcott - he has the directness and finishing with much more all-around technical ability. His dribbling is incredible and would give us another way to break down defenses. Will we have to pay that clause if Schalke miss the CL and he really wants out?

I could see how one could say that Chamberlain offers similar qualities on the left, although I see him as a central player. We're also not spending unlimited money and definitely need a striker and an Arteta backup/successor. Wouldn't mind another squad/future defender either.

I say keep Verms and Sagna and bring in Costa, Draxler, and Cabaye!:drool::drool: 😆 🙁

Walcott is possibly our most guaranteed performer in attack against big teams..

Yeah, Draxler has a lot of potential, but Walcott is clearly the far more useful player right now.

Draxler is a huge huge talent. He reminds me a bit of Rooney when he was young, first thing you notice is their athleticism and power when dribbling directly towards defences, though he dribbles like Bale nowadays. You don't pass up on these sort of talents, even for 45m.

Chuba trolling on twitter 😆

i still see Draxler as a striker in 2 or 3 years time. if he stays on the wing, maybe he mimicks Bale/ Ronaldo in his style and still cuts in to create chances for himself. he's a bigger talent than Reus

Ramsey? Wilshere? (not to mention Özil having #10 sewn up for the next 5 years)
