Every player is gettable, despite contract extensions. Remember how we had Adebayor sign a bumper deal and then sold him the following summer? It happens all the time. Suarez signed a new deal, and that didn't exactly prevent him from wanting out.

In Bender's case, I would be very surprised if there isn't a release clause in there. Or we could get the other Bender.

He is, but ideally I'd want a better player. Honestly, I don't think we are really going for another CM though. Not even next summer. I'm fine with that as well.

Not a fan of Inler. Good athlete but average footballer...not very clever either. He's lucky to be starting for Napoli imo.

I don't think it matters which CM is preferable to another since there is nothing at all indicating that we are in the market for another CM. Not in January, and probably not next summer either.

If anything, we should look for a CB who can also play in central midfield. I'd vote for Song...

Lovren is quality. Absolute unit and he can run, good on the ball as well. He's getting a fantastic education under Pochettino too.

pace, movement, finishing..and could be better than nothing, though it would kill the possibility to buy someone big in the summer

Yeah but he's not a better player than Walcott or Podolski, and he'd be competing for those roles. He's not very good as a centre forward. It would be like playing Podolski there. Worse even.

Reid, Schneiderlin, Lovren, Inler ...

They are bog average players who do well in midtable clubs/worse leagues. They would not get a look in at our team and i would much prefer our backups are either old guys who have been pushed aside by younger players or young players who look to surpass older guys in the team. We dont need players who dont have potential to go up a level or two.

By far. He won't be cheap though.

Agree with this, I would rather sign the best player available, that's the way to really improve a squad rather than buying players who are happy to be on the bench. It's hard to find quality CBs at the moment though. The top ones are already at massive clubs and others aren't better than what we already have.

Lovren has potential though, don't turn your nose up at him so quickly.

Lovren played for Lyon, and has experience in the UCL. Don't think he would fit us though, not everybody with Mertesacker size is as good. Would much prefer Reid, but as a 4th choice CB we can't complain as long as they are good enough.

Just throw everything at Liverpool for Suarez. Get him in January and we can make a real push for the league.
