Yeah, the Bolton fans don't exactly think as highly of him as we do, weird.

From Orbinho on Twitter:

Samba V Cahill
Goals: 3-4
Shots: 41-32
Pass%: 64%-72%
Tackles/90: 1.56-1.92
Interceptions/90: 2.1-1.8
Clearances/90: 11.2-10.8
Aerial Duels: 68%-63%*

  • Arsenal centrebacks over the last two seasons (well, Djouoru and Vermaelen anyway):

Aerial Duels Won; Djourou 58% Koscielny 53% Squillaci 53% Vermaelen 60%

Very similar stats between the 2 tbf

So the shortest of our centre backs has the best heading stats? Goes to show how much heart and desire counts for.

Loathe as I am to comment on meaningless statistics (I mean how the fuck is an "aerial duel" calculated?), ability to position yourself using your body (and others) for leverage reading the ball in flight of the ball and good ol' desire to get there first can sometimes count for more than just brute height, in fact I've known guys that actually lose height when they jump lol, so it's no surprise that Tommy V would come out on top.

An aerial duel is defined as beginning the moment one of two men say "en garde", and ending the moment the other player keels over dead, relinquishing the ball, having earlier chucked the ball out of a plane in flight and then both jumping out of it.

Thanks Bandy, thats much clearer now, I think.

Err what if three are going for the same ball- which really should be a fourth players?

Wow koscielny won 53% of his duels. Shame 80% of those only dropped five yards infront of the defence

to be fair, Kosh is better at intercepting the ball before it becomes a duel.

Who won the duel he had with Szczesny in the Carling cup?
Oh yeah I remember- Martins.

Tim Payton says that the Cahill deal is very close now.

Who's Tim Payton? Worth paying attention to?

Oh right, so he might know something then. There are a few others around saying it's close. I think signing Cahill would probably cheer everyone up a bit.

I think I have finally decided that I would prefer Cahill over Samba. Could do with a English CB here. Younger as well which represent more value for money

Tim Payton seems like a chain-yanker if you go by his Twitter. I wouldn't set much store by him.

We're obviously not going to give them Lansbury, and if we are it's not going to be a permanent transfer.

Cant say I've really missed John Cross so far this transfer window. Another serial bullshitter.
