As a trio they put a bit too much pressure on the rest of the side to perform excellently. Luckily for us we actually have an excellent midfield this season, but going forward it would be good to have a top class forward.

Is Michu worth 30mill plus?

As a Spanish International now, I'd say he is. I would have paid 20-25 odd on him last summer, anyway.

No resell value but it's a decent price for 4-5 good years. I'd pay it.

£25m for Michu would be fair on this market, 30 is pushing it.

he's good, but at those types of rates, i'd rather teach Reus to be a false 9.

Not keen on a small striker leading the line myself. Not even someone as talented as Reus.

There's a big advantage of having a striker that can hold the ball up. Especially in the PL.

Reus isn't small but I don't think he will work as a striker, he could play the occasional game there but not long term. If he was to come it would be to replace Walcott.

He's 5'11 with a slight frame, that's small compared to the CBs he would come up against.

The market for strikers is fucked though. You get Lamela and Soldado for that kind of money nowadays. It's ineviteable to pay over the odds. The relevant question to ask is whether he'd improve the team.

Wenger got us Podolski and Giroud for around £10m per. Im sure if he wants he can get us something similar.

You also have to factor in buying an established player from another PL club means the player is much more likely to settle in and that comes at a premium as well.

He also paid £42 million for Özil. It's possible to pick up some bargains some of the time, but not all the time and not always on the position you need them. You'll pay more than you want to for players you really need. It's not just Michu; the same will be true for any striker we might be interested in.

While i agree with Klaus' logic, the idea of paying 30 million for Michu is hard to digest!

He would most definitely improve the team though.

i floated this idea in the wishlist thread, but my post vanished. we'd have a small hyper technical line up. would be an interesting experiment at least, if it flops, chuck him on the left.

Yeah, I did. I have no idea why they'd be after him having picked up Fellaini though. They need someone like Mata or Ramsey - a player who combines high energy and confidence with creativity. This Herrera guy would seem to be closer to the mark if they can prise him away.

Speaking of United, there have been a number of rumours linking Chicharito with the exit door, and some of them are suggesting we're interested.

Doesn't seem to be much behind it, but at a price point of 15-20m, would you take him? I like him as a player but I think we need someone who can play a conventional centre forward's role, not another poacher.

Kill them with movement. You lose Giroud's hold-up play, but you add a guy who can score in many more ways than Giroud and can get in behind the strikers.

--------- Reus ------------
Podolski - Ozil - Cazorla

Allow them to move around a bit, so that Podolski can take the top and Cazorla the left, and Reus the flanks as well.

If you are talking 25m pounds for a striker, I'd look into Benzema. We can revitalise him
