Wenger and Gazidis played the window perfectly, couple of free transfers, then blow a massive load on a superstar, instead of a couple of £10m worth players.

Lets not exaggerate. We've staged the transfer coup of the summer, and credit to them for pulling it off, but it could have been much more productive if we were better organized.

We could have probably signed a backup defender, or got Ba on loan, but that's irrelevant, the aim of this window was to start building a title winning side. You aren't going to get that over one transfer window. So it has gone to plan so far, let's see what happens in the next two windows to back this up.

Why not? We are talking a plan, and proper execution here. 2 good players in addition to Ozil. Not too much to ask. Like you said: back up defender and top striker. Identify your targets and go full throttle to bring them in.

I feel we did well, but missed a great opportunity to do much more.

I'd give us a B+ in this window.

I said long before even last season ended that more than anything we needed a top class striker for this season. Let us not pretend that just because we signed Özil we couldn't have afforded one of those. We could have, and should have signed one. When it became obvious we weren't going to get one, and Podolski broke down, I still think it is criminal we are now banking on Giroud once again.

Still can't get over we signed Özil btw. Easily my fave player in the world. All smiles! 🙂

I kinda like Giroud. With the support of Cazorla and Özil, he'll have a season like that one good Adebayor season.
