Arsenal have held talks with Lille over a move for Salomon Kalou as they prepare to let Nicklas Bendtner join Crystal Palace.
Former Chelsea winger Kalou, 28, has been the subject of interest from West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool and Cardiff but each had struggled to agree terms.

A realistic link at last. "Top top quality." "Better than what we have."

Someone close this. Fuck. Why not keep Gervinho if you want an ineffective Ivorian?

Agree.

You'd hate him if he played for us Dules.

I'd obviously rather draxler or Di Maria but I'd settle for kalou. He'd fit our style. Reminds me of Sturridge who I also like

A worse version of Daniel Sturridge. Yeah, that's definitely what we need.

Kalou is crap.

Lille have a quality young left back. The few times I watched them last season they guy was seriously impressive. Digne I think he's called, was good at the U20 WC too. We're covered at LB but if we're signing anyone from Lille it should be him. Balmont might be useful to us too but we're sorted in CM with Flamini arriving.

Digne signed for PSG earlier in the summer.

Damn. Good signing for them. How much did he go for?

£12m, I think.

This is one of those links that the DM wheel out when they run out of ideas and just want to p*** us off.
I hope.

Would be typical though. Having spent the summer being linked to Rooney, Suarez and Higuain to end up with Kalou.

I know he gets stick but I like him as a player

I think he's okay too. Not great but a solid bench option at the very least. This is really not how we should be spending our money but a signing is better than no signing. Maybe Wenger can rediscover some of the player he was in Holland.

I think it is extremely plausible given the injury situation we have. I'm sure we will try for other bigger names first, but when those moves inevitably fail, we will announce his signing late on deadline day.

He is an upgrade on Gervinho, but would rather not sign him as we players a lot better than what we have, not marginal improvements.
