I don't know if it is true or not but supposedly played 80 games in total last year. Not surprising he has burned out so quickly this season.

37m is a good price for Mata though, and it seems like a big part of Chelsea's plan to deal with FFP is to make a lot of money off of player sales. More from young players like de Bruyne than established players like Mata, but still. Mourinho didn't think he could win the title with Mata and wanted that money for a striker in the summer.

Exactly, they bought Matic and Salah with the money they made from Mata, so haven't done that badly out of the deal

at the highest level, you'd rather have one great player than two good players. this is what has kept us from greatness this past decade. they were better off with just Mata (one that actually plays)

They are very different players, and Matic is certainly closer to the player we need, but Mata is clearly a better footballer than Matic.

I'd prefer Matic too. Dainty ball playing midfielders are a dime a dozen. Athletic, tall, and aggressive, central midfielders who can pass the ball are rarer.

Draw after full time. Atletico will walk away with it eventually, either in AET or on penalties. Everyone should bet on the X tonight. There's a lot of money to be had here.
