I think you're right in the sense that Pjanic prefers to play there, though that's true of many/most creative players. He is probably two lightweight for a midfield two but could probably play the less defensive role of the double pivot, in that sense he's positionally very similar to Jack. The similarities to Cabaye was more of a comment that both of them are passing first midfielders who like to have a crack from midfield, aren't superb in the takle but can compensate positionally etc; in short, both are low-grade Xabi Alonsos in my eyes, which is not meant as an insult. I think it's worth noting that Cabaye's best position would also probably be the no. 10 as well.
