The super sub Theo theory has never really worked for me. Only in that 2–2 draw against Barca did Theo change the game as a sub. For some reason he tends to struggle as a sub and is much better only when starting. Having Gibbs back really sucks for Monreal.

Biggest comeback I'm waiting for is Podolski. What a horrible time to get injured, he was playing very well.

I think it depends on when and how you choose to sub Walcott on. He's a wee bit useless when you need to improve the way you play, but he can be a gamechanger if you're already putting the opposition under pressure.

If you're chasing a game, the opposition tends to be sitting, so Theo can't use his pace to exploit the space behind the defence. I think that's why the super sub theory rarely worked for him. Against Barca, the space was still there and against a tiring team it can help. He's still not very good 1v1 so needs to use his pace to get behind.

Maybe they simply mean that if Theo and Wilshere aren't fit for United, they won't be back playing football until after the international break. No United, no England friendlies.

Just watched the press conference, Wenger definitely said Theo will be back after the break, not before.

In other news, Giroud responded to a question by suggesting he didn't rape enough when he was 19. I think he was trying to say ripe, and he meant mature, but hilarious all the same.
