Iwobi's just not a player that is easily spotted as something special - his touch, passing and general technique always looked very good but not incredible, because it's not - but a lot of what he does well are the simple things and that takes good players to combine with and benefit from that good stuff to really, if you like, show it off.
It's a credit to Wenger, and of no surprise at all really, that he did see that very quickly and, as the article suggests, kept Iwobi close by ever since. His 'blue-eyed boy'. The fact that Iwobi has grown to 6' tall and really turned into a pretty quick and powerful guy has also took him up a level or two in the last 12 months or so.
With all the shit Wenger gets it's easy to forget sometimes that he's about as good as there is at seeing talent when it's there and knowing when it's not. I find that reassuring, epseically given the talent we have coming through. I trust he'll make the right calls on them as he pretty much always has.
