Iwobi seems like an intelligent player who can adapt well to the way we want to play. Sanogo from couple of passes he made here and then seemed to be a somewhat intelligent player as well, even if he had zero skill. Akpom on the other hand, despite all his skill and physical qualities seems brainless on the pitch and barely made an appearance. I think that might be a bigger factor than just pure talent on how Wenger picks his youth players.

Bold Tone

Denilson also seemed to be intelligent but his 100% comprised of 2 yard hospital passes, jogging back slower than the ref when we were being counter attacked and the famous denileg. Sanogo's 100% is buried under a complete lack of skill and Iwobi's 100% involves talking about his uncle, JJ Okocha.

Must be more than one aspect he's considering. Probably it's a list of things he uses to predict who will do well on match days, as well as who will gain mostly from a run of games (or subs), as well as who will be closest to first team level as a result. I agree with Klaus physical readiness must mean something, but with Ricky that Eastmond is a counter example (was about to write it myself when I saw Ricky did). Also what the team needs ATM must be a big factor as well - see (thankfully!) Coq. To me he must value mental readiness as well. And as at least part of his system, I'm sure history is factored in - Sanogo having scored bucket loads in France prior to arrival (albeit 2nd div there) must have had some weight ("it'll click at some point"; as with Gervinience and Chamakh perhaps).

It still doesn't solve the Iwoby conundrum (As ricky, I've yet to see something that makes me interested in the least. But hey, I've been wrong before.. and Wenger did get some of them right, too[size=large] [/size]🙂 ).

Anyway - hope we finally get to see Jeff play (Iwoby to score a hat trick, Jeff clueless, sure to happen).

Whatever happened to the the young Polish lad Bielik? his development should be progressing. He certainly was one of the only outfield players to redeem themselves in our CC match v. Sheffield.. we looked a slightly different side when he came on and he seemed a nice tidy player.

Mr Reine-Adelaide scored two and made one as the U21s beat their Blackburn counterparts 3-2 today. Malen scored our other goal - kid is doing well. Iwobi played in centre midfield alongside Arteta, which is where he keeps on playing for the Reserve side.

Jeff really wants that start on Saturday! And I think he'll get it.

Not sure how he managed to do it but Arteta somehow looks slow even in that picture.

He's made some awful errors in the last month or two playing at centreback for the U21s. He's really struggling to get to grips with the position. He definitely has a class about him though when he has the ball. Carries it well, passes it well and looks very composed.

stick him in this weekend then. i'm so not fussed about any cups this year. i just want to know that everything possible was done to win the league. Ramsey, Ozil, Giroud, Koscielny need to be in Ibiza this weekend.

They should all be in the match squad IMO. We certainly should put a team out against Sunderland which should realistically be strong enough to win the game; tanking the FA Cup should not be an option.

i wouldn't tank - that breeds loser mentality. but i would make the best possible team in the absence of Ramsey, Ozil, Giroud, Koscielny, Bellerin.

When I look at that line-up, I'm super comfortable with the back 7, including the goalkeeper. Wenger has done enough here. The front leaves a lot to be desired. There is not a single player there who will make his own goal, and without Ozil (and Cazorla/Wilshere injured), there are no playmakers. So it is a massive concern.

But we then have Liverpool, Stoke, Chelsea in the league. We cannot even think about mass rotation in these games. We need to rotate at the margins - Gabriel here, Campbell there. So we have no choice but to play Jeff and the scrub forwards.

When I look at that line up, I see no leaders (aside from Per) in that team who can propel the team forward.

stupid question... why is he at CB? I thought he was brought in as a CM, or am i mistaken? when he came on v. Sheffield, he was deployed as a CM i thought... (from as much as i can remember of that shit show of a game)

Highlight of the game. Iwobi and Jeff looked like the standout players, also Bielik looks really comfortable with the ball.

Pulis played with decent players occasionally over the last few years so he probably just wanted options then ended up going with a more defensive set up. West Brom are looking pretty safe so you can't really blame him for not playing an Arsenal youth prospect.

Don't think so but his Palace side were decent enough for a while.

Yeah Palace were but that's more because of the players he had there, Bolasie Puncheon and even Gayle were pretty good that season and they're showing it under Pardew too. Pulis is great at coaching defences and getting a lot out of extremely limited players but he has no clue how to use any attacking players that don't involve a lanky cunt up front.
