if he doesn't make it here it won't be because he's too weak. i'll never dismiss an 18 year old for not being strong enough yet. i'd quicker to dismiss a strong 18 year old. using coq's breakthrough year as a guide, this dude has 5 more years to get his game and body right.

Fabregas was far from fully developed physically when he started playing first team football for us. The club and the fans suffered because of the stadium project, but it is hard to deny that Fabregas, and quite a few other young, talented players, greatly benefited from it by getting first team game time.

I disagree as i think the bunch of clowns and stiffs playing in several other positions (Almunia in goal, Eboue on the wing, Squillaci anywhere on the pitch) contributed far more to the shitfest than Fabregas.

Of course, but that's not what I meant. With the financial restraints that the stadium brought there was a significant shift towards giving young players a chance. Fabregas, and the other young players, benefited from that. Today, it is much harder to get into the first team proper, because there are more, and better, players ahead of any 17-18 year old wanting to get in.

Reading this made me think about who the shittest player was in our barren years. Almunia had some very poor but also a few good days, Squillaci didn't look useless as long as he wasn't paired with Koscielny (back when Djourou was our best defender) and Eboué was a decent RB. Worst of the lot has to be Silvestre, literally can't recall a single good thing peanut head has ever done, worse still he was a Manc cunt.

Same reasoning is why i left out Cygan and Lord Dula's "best" mate as they did have their moments.

Agreed, but the likes of Almunia, Denilson and even Gervinho were more damaging.

I feel, Squillaci as a signing was worse than Sylvestre. At least, Tweety was playing when he was here and then moved on. Squillaci was in the reserves for a year or two.
