It's been my opinion since the new structure was put in place that I thought that our squad/team development was aimed at having a new core based upon the likes of Eddie, Nelson, AMN, Iwobi, Bellerin, ESR, Willock etc as being our starting /match day squad. The trick is in getting these players ready for that outcome.

More importantly perhaps is we need to be able to show these youngsters that whilst they will not be given starting time as seen under the previous management structure, that they will be given preference as in-house players ahead of imports if they are deemed to be ready. IMO for this to happen we probably need to sell and then replace with an in-house player. We need to establish a clear progression path for these kids that includes a loan period for them to show they can handle the demands of a starting role in senior football, so as to avoid the stagnation and departure of talent such as the likes of Gnabry.

I wouldn't mind seeing a team like that in the early rounds of league cup.
I would play 3 at the back as i don't trust the defensive abilities of AMN and Kola in a 4.
Saka can be an impact sub as his fitness isn't great but Thompson is too great a risk for me.

That right there should be our default League / Europa squad. Something of that nature. Let the big dogs focus on getting a decent league run going. Once we get to December, we can then take stock. The strong ones from the group above can stick around. The weaker ones can go on loan to clubs where they can continue to get sufficient minutes.

I've heard good things about Coyle, Balogun and Greenwood but strikers hardly ever make it with our coaching at this level so i think Greenwood and Coyle are the ones with the best chances.
Bould is certainly dealing with dregs as Flaherty, Laing, Sraha and Taylor-Hart are scholars on their first call-ups at this level.
Amaechi who would definitely be a star in this team is probably going through the motions as he looking for another club.

I am hoping that Bould's experience helps us produce decent defenders.

It’s hard to say how any of these guys will go. Saka looks the most exciting but Willock could go on to have a long productive career as a versatile mid. We just need to maximize the probability that they each fulfill their potential

I get what Dula's saying, there's just that vibe you get WRT how Emery probably views Nelson. Big shame if that's what comes to be, because he's got stupidly good ability. It's just so frustrating that he still plays within himself. Hoping we play him through this patch until he feels he truly belongs.

He does play within himself but he also lacks explosive power. That may come but I doubt it. It’s usually there by now. Nketiah and Saka have it. As did a young Sterling

Willock will make it. Nelson won't. Football is more than just technical ability.

Willock is top class. He’s only going to get more powerful with age and he’s great at making those well timed runs forward

Not many slot into proper football without breaking sweat, Nelson just needs a coach. Someone to help him learn what's asked of him tactically and to make sure he's confident and hungry. Look what a difference Arteta made to Sterling a couple of season's back. Emery needs to work with him, it'll be criminal of him to give up. Even if it's just this season. Iwobi improved a lot last season with the same prompting so I'm hopeful Emery can do it.
