He says that but we saw precious little evidence of progression last season. He needs game time to develop and he is not getting that from the bench.
So many games last season where he could have been tried but Emery never used him.
I don't think he was ready and I would've probably done the same.

Danny Ballard joins League Two side Swindon Town. I rate the kid, but let's see how he gets on in proper football.
Finally official confirmation that young right back, Vontae Daley-Campbell, has joined Leicester City, after turning down our contract offer.
We might regret this one. He's rough and raw, but he's also got a lot going for him.
The size of his neck. Guy looks like a rugby player in that picture.
Seems like a trend to turn down new contracts for our youth players nowadays.
This guy is too young to be unhappy about first team chances though, maybe he feels Leicester is easier.
It's not just ours. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/aug/15/exodus-young-english-players-moving-abroad-jonathan-panzo
As feared and expected, our best youngster from the group that have just been offered scholarships, Yunus Musah, has turned down our offer and is almost certain to leave the club. Valencia and Man City are two of the clubs mentioned, but Juventus nearly lured him away last summer.
Very disappointing.
It's part of having a productive academy. It should actually be taken as a good sign, not a bad one. We need to learn to make money off them, though.
Look at La Masia, they lose players all the time, including to us. It's the way of things.
Out of interest, do you know why he turned us down Ricky?
I think Homie posted it first

Sorry, should have rephrased that. Do we know why he turned us down over other clubs?
I think it's what a lot of the most talented youngsters are doing now. It's en vogue if like. Aside from the usual reasons: More money and the promise of a quicker route to first team football.

Was thinking the same thing.

Fair do. Good luck to him. Hope I never hear of him again! ;D
Reiss Nelson promoted to Arsenal first-team and given number 24 shirt – Jeorge Bird's Arsenal Youth
Looks like Joe Willock has given first team squad number. Number 28.
Arsenal promote Eddie Nketiah to first-team squad – Jeorge Bird's Arsenal Youth
I have high hopes for Joe and Nelson. I think Eddie won't make it here...

I think all 3 could make it. We will always need a utility forward. Some guy who can come in and do 20 minutes at striker or wide forward and put in big Kuyt energy. If Nketiah doesn't develop into a brilliant striker, he can become that guy
The reason I don't see him making it here is because of his mediocre work rate. These kids should be chomping at the bit to impress but when they actually do get some minutes there always seems to be no real urgency to their game
