Urh, not that I'm defending the talent of Nelson as compared to the rest or what, but you guys expect him to start over Maddison, Gray or Barnes? All of whom have plenty of game time this season and especially Maddison/Barnes is a superlative talent that would start for us. Even Sesessgnon, Gibbs White, Foden all have more game time and experienced that would be considered ahead of Nelson in the squad.

France as well to a lesser extent, they have Tousart, JRA and Aouar in midfield before they can consider Guendouzi

This is the correct take. There's a time and place for everything. Nelson is only 19. He's one of the 3-4 youngest players in the U21 squad and he didn't play regular football last season. If anyone wants to bet money against Reiss Nelson turning out a better player than Ryan Sessegnon and Demarai Gray I'd be happy to take that bet though.

Lol. Half that list is them. It also excludes Upamecano and Malang Sarr who are on U21 team. Sarr is actually used by the U21 in a left back role, similar to how the U20 deploy Ndicka
I really wish we had money to get two of these guys plus Tierney in, so that we could refresh defense.

Saliba is the second youngest on that list, one of only three players to feature that were born in 2001.

I have to say I don't get the big deal with Ryan Sessegnon. Seemed like a sensation when scoring goals in the Championship at 17 but after watching him I just don't see anything special.

That list seems to be sorted in terms of what these guys have already achieved rather than talent alone.

One interesting omission is Tonali. Although I wonder to what extent they’re leaving out younger players. His control and passing is something to behold.

The kid from Salzburg isn't on there either and he has twice the talent of a plodder like Sessegnon. It's clearly primarily based on first team appearances, so not really a measure of talent, but more a reflection of opportunity and capability relative to others of a similar age.

My way would probably be much more subjective, so I'm not sure how practical it would be, but I'd organised it based on how much talent a player has and in essence how good I think he can become. Maybe a balance between the two is ideal?

Declan Rice is pretty much a sure thing for example, he's already proven at PL level, but from limited viewing I'd say Foden is much more talented.

Yeah, L’Equipe aren’t scouts. It probably weighs ‘established’ more than ‘potential’. Would be interesting to see how they voted the players on those two axes separately.

The list says 'players' and not just 'talents' so I assume it has factored in both talent and playing time.
