Chelsea have been cranking out very good youth players for years now. They just struggle to integrate them into their first team.

Arsenal have suspended two U23 coaches after complaints from players about bullying. The coaches in question are Steve Getting and Carl Laraman and there's a suggestion that Marcus McGuane, the kid that left for Barcelona in January, left to get away from it.

I personally can't stand either of the two coaches in question. Very arrogant and old-fashioned in interviews I've seen them in and features the club have done on them over the years. And I'd say they are also both very average coaches that have been at the club longer than they should have been. Gatting did win the U23 League this season but with Willock, Nelson and Nketiah it would have been hard not to. He's had a very poor time of it before that.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that but I hope they're done at Araneal regardless.

The assistant goalkeeping coach , Sal Bibbo, I don't know much about, but we all know about the reported ineptitude of Gerry Peyton, whilst Neil Banfield was a bullshit appointment from the beginning - very average as the coach of the Reserve side (as it was then known) and in my opinion had no business being promoted to work with the first team.

This is the shake up we've needed for years and years. Hurrah!

Freddie is extremely highly regarded. Did very impressive work with our U16s until he was nabbed by Jonker to work as his assistant at Wolfsburg.

Similar to Wenger, for me at least; a bit of a dinosaur, but without any of Arsene's redeeming qualities (because we know literally nothing about his personality).

Aye. I know almost nothing about him. But he was a big part of the coaching staff when we won a lot of trophies, so there's that.

Perhaps Wenger has been protecting all these guys to some degree? I'd say it's all about Gazidis reshaping the club now that he is the man calling the shots at Arsenal.

Freddie's been really great as a pundit on swedish tv this season. He's given a lot of small valuable insights into the club too. It's obvious from his comments that everyone at Arsenal seems to think Nelson, Maitland-Niles and Nketiah are destined for big things.

As for the rest of them, it's all speculation. Tbh I suspect the issue is that very few of our coaches (and manager) have experienced what's going on at other clubs over the past decade and therefore have been left behind. It's not necessarily a personal failing.

I've always found it odd how much hate he gets given the fact that I've never seen a single real reason as to why.

Anyway, a refresh of a coaching staff is clearly as necessary as it was to get rid of Wenger. The job for life approach clearly not healthy.

Primorac now gone as well. Ol' Darren has been calling it all day. Also says the club want Lehmann and Bould to stay on, dependent on discussuons with new manager. It's the last day of 1st team training today so it makes sense that it's all happening today.

Hope they don't make too many of them go though - someone has to be around for the handover. That's one of the big mistakes Moyes made.

Yeah. My bet is that Bould is still around next season. Plus Freddie if he takes over the reserves, and Per as the academy head. The latter two won't be part of the first team staff per se but they'll be included in staff meetings and such and have a voice. All the players know them well too.
