Harsh scoreline. They were better and created more chances but we were dangerous ourselves and defended bravely for most of the game.
I thought Virginia was very good in goal. Did very little wrong.
Daley-Campbell got completely on top of the excellent Hudson-Odoi as the game wore on. Ballard was a real warrior at centreback, gave absolutelt everything. Medley and Thompson less good, especially the former.
Burton was very good on the ball in midield as he usually is, but lacked a bit physically. Smith was one of our poorer players I thought. Brings very little to the table.
Smith-Rowe was class whenever he got the ball and worked as hard as anyone. Ludicrous to take him off and that was as much a contributory factor to the game getting away from us at the end as the general fatigue that set in.
Oliyinka was average and I think was played more for his work rate in helping to track their left back.
Amaechi was, like Smith-Rowe, absolute quality whenever he got the ball, but he didn't see enough of it. Great finish for his goal.
John-Jules put in a good all-round centre forward's performance. Again, just starved of service.
Two very poor decisions from the officials have given them more of a lead going into the second leg than they probably warranted. Wouldn't write us off at the Emirates though. If we can get the ball to our best players more then we can really hurt them. It's going to be very tough though.
