Was speaking to a player in the U21s on Friday night and grilled him on all things Arsenal. Not surprisingly he doesn't know much, if anything, about the first team and Wenger's plans given that they train in Surrey (I think he mentioned Surrey) and away from the the main squad. What was interesting was when I asked him who he and the rest of the U21s believed would be the next player to join the first team, he said Zelalem.

This despite everything that's happened during his loans they still believe he is their biggest talent. Said he can do anything with the ball and is always the main guy they look towards in games. Strange considering the reviews we hear of his progress and level compared to his team mates from many outlets.

No idea mate, those were my thoughts considering he made hus debut 3 years ago and hasn't looked like he's progressed much but that was his thoughts.

Youth team beat Porto 1-0 thanks to a Reiss Nelson screamer. Supposedly have been doing well this season. Debuchy and Chambers played an hour each - good to see the latter back. Iliev back from injury as well.

Nelson being decisive when you don't stick him at rightback. Who knew?

U18s are a good crop. Xavier Amaechi and Emile Smith-Rowe are having very good seasons. Both are very, very promising. Devastating wide players with pace, technique, power and goals in them.

Tyrece John-Jules, Robbie Burton and Danny Ballard are interesting talents too. Trae Coyle is perhaps the biggest talent of them all, but is always injured.

Never heard of Xavier before but read a piece on Arseblog raving about him the other day. Are they in the mould of Nelson?

It's good to see a few home grown prospects coming through.

Amaechi is quite similar to Nelson actually. Left footed but usually plays on the right. Seriously impressive technique and a brilliant finisher. Not quite the same in terms of playmaking and awareness, but that is what makes Nelson so super special.

Emile Smith-Rowe is a fair bit different. He reminds me a bit of Gareth Bale with his build and turn of speed but when he's in the box he moves and strikes the ball like Pires....in style not necessarily quality! Cool as a cucumber in his finishing.

I like them both a lot.

He has serious, even stupendous, technical ability. He spends months out at a time injured and has done frequently since I became aware of him a couple of years back. Really hope that changes for him but it's not a good sign at just 16/17.

Under 14s beat a Malaysian U-14 youth team in a local tourney here. Nobody really stood out for me. Mainly cos I don't recognise a single lad.

Managed to see most of that half - completely one sided, United are terrible. Not an awful lot to quality from us even still.

Mavrapanos is a seriously big guy. Looks interesting.

Greek boy has been very inpressive. Very fast and athletic for a guy that must be 6'4" or 5".

Nketiah just scored a complete piss take goal. Ran from the halfway line, great pace, and then rolled it in the bottom corner.

Another one for Nketiah, great assist from Nelson. The former has been absolutely outstanding. Although, it must be said, United are beyond poor.

What do you think about Nketiah's first team prospects Ricky? Where's he at talent wise compared to, say, guys like Afobe and Akpom?
