I feel that's a criticism that's raised a lot more for left footed players than it is for right footers.

In fairness it is leveled against Bellerin often, but in general it's less likely to be said of right footed players. Similarly with a pair of centre backs or mids. It's never an issue if both are right footed, but it suddenly becomes one if a pairing of left footers are mooted.

Maybe. But in my opinion there is no reason or excuse for any pro footballer to be so reliant on one foot, whether it's left or right.

It's not impossible for a player to learn how to use their weaker foot (van persie, cronaldo, messi for example) so i blame his coaches for limiting his development by allowing him to remain so one-footed.

Yeah i agree. I've only ever coached at amateur junior level, but even at this level I've seen players develop their weaker foot through specific training focus, and the ability to translate that increased competence/confidence into match situations. There really should be no excuse at professional level. Of course only a minority will get close to being equally strong on both feet, but they should be at least solid and comfortable using both feet as needed in game situations.

Anyway, feels like ages since I've seen Jack turn out in an Arsenal shirt, so perhaps I was just noticing it more than usual in that comp.

Maybe it's a case of being that much better than your peers at a young age so not looking for an advantage as i was extremely average and learnt to use my left foot (and left hand for table-tennis) as that limited ambidexterity helped me in games.

When you're not very good with the back hand of your active hand. A quick switch on a poor return and you can have the opportunity for a forehand smash, instead of an average hit. The opening doesn't arise too frequently, but it does come up every now and then.

People who are not good at backhand will just use penhold grip isnt it? Otherwise they will just spend hours training backhands on shakehand grip with their strong master hand.

I don't understand how training your lesser hand can help in table tennis unless I misread Tone

Penhold is not so easy to master. Requires lot of mobility and athleticism to keep the egg in optimal range.

As Flobs said, my back hand was rubbish and could never return shots that i had to reach for, so a quick switch to my left hand was the safer shot.
Funny thing is i developed a lefty back hand top spin better than my right hand version.
Bear in mind the level of player i was playing with were equally shit.

One thing I've always wondered is why doesn't he calm it down?

By going slower and passing it around he could be more potent than when he drives forward and smashes into defenders.

Needs to slow it and just spray it about. Would be bad to lose him.

He won't be there because he hasn't trained for City in 3 weeks or more now. He's back in London and hanging out with Nelson and their mates.

I suspect he's informed the FA and City that he wants to terminate his contract and that Arsenal (or possibly another club but, in all honesty, that seems very unlikely at this point) are trying to negotiate a compensation fee with City. If they can't then it'll go to a tribunal and the fee will be set.

I've seen a few rumours around that he has trained and is possibly still training with Arsenal, which is allowed under the terms of his scholarship contract, provided he's followed the correct procedure in terminating his contract.

Unless all the signs are pointing the wrong way, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't announced as Arsenal player in the next few weeks.
