Obvious problems with both lineups, but worth a try.

If Özil's going to play in that position it's got to be like this IMO:

Looks good on paper. Which is all that counts. Make it so, Arsene.

Özil has played there several times for Germany. Maybe it's worth a shot if we can't sign a striker. Might be worth a go against Bayern.

Löw has experimented with Özil as a false 9. Would be a way to get two strikers in the team I guess. I don't really fancy any formation which doesn't have a clear spot for Santi though.

Meh, I've no time for Cazorla at the moment. Seriously needs to improve his form. He can play in place of Wilshere in that formation. I'd prefer Wilshere because he's got a bigger engine and he can break lines by driving forward with the ball.

A few brain farts aside, Vermaelen has been pretty decent since coming back into the team. Hope Wenger gives him more games in the second half of the season. Play Koscielny vs Newcastle, but bring Vermaelen right back in for Cardiff and give Mertesacker a much needed rest.

Santi looked great in the second half yesterday. Especially when podolski came on. He was buzzing and switching play. He's so much better central.

He should have played against Chelsea, it was wet windy night and Santi always likes to get shots on, handy when you create fuck all as we did.

I'm still not fully convinced by Ozil.

For me, Özil is like a David Silva with slightly less goal threat.

I love ozil but I do think Biggus' view is all that funny.

I think it is clear as day that Özil influences our play positively in almost every game. Having said that, it is also clear that he is not fully adapted to the pace and physicality of the PL. There is also plenty of room for development when it comes to finishing, and looking for his own finishes instead of the pass. Luckily, the boy is only 25; his best years should still be ahead of him.
