They can both do magic in the center, they can both play on the flank (both flanks, by the way. We seem to be locked on left, with Pod-Gerv and all, but there's nothing saying they can't, or don't, play on the right).
They also both like to play freely - Santi on the left, though isn't exactly the same as when he is the designated AM, still roams quite a bit. Ozil's not exactly static himself. I can easily see the two of them swapping places within the game. Depends a lot on the chemistry between them, and on how good it will be with Ozi AM in real life (as opposed to theory). For instance, if it looks like he can't help releasing Theo for 3-4 one on ones each game or that Giroud just doesn't focus on his facial expression any more, then he'll just be the nailed on AM (and perhaps some room for improvisation will always be afforded).
