Thing is though neither of these players are great positionally, yes they will harass and both get involved in tackles and interceptions but they really aren't one to organise and get the mid field into a proper shape to defend and protect the back 4. Flamini and Ramsery are both pressers and are good at it but you need to do that from a base of good play not to allow the player being pressed from having an easy pass or even worse play through the entire mid.

Well said Evoh.

You need someone in the mold of Arteta back there to marshall when/where/who to press. Ramsey's stamina/pressing is much needed in the team but the better teams have the capacity to get right by if its not applied properly.

Sad seeing Jack try to organize the midfield and calling players back to defend.

If we bring in another wide forward, Di Maria for instance, Cazorla continues to play on the left with Jack behind the striker, will people be comfortable with Walcott being moved to the center?

His technical improvement is quite astounding and his movement is fantastic too. He lacks presence but his pace will always give us an outlet and with age he has grown physically too.

I just don't see us getting a top striker, just wondering if Wenger sees Walcott as an option now. He has always said Walcott will end up in the center and Walcott has always wanted it.

Walcott keeps ending up in positions better suited to a creative player. We really need Di Maria or the like out there on the wing if Santi is going to play in the center. Wrighty was talking shit on Walcott's awareness but he's not a creative player and never will be. His technique and ball control has come on leaps and bounds, and his movement really is getting so much better, but he's never close enough to goal. He's a forward for a 2-striker system if I ever saw one. Either that or we start putting him on the left. I prefer Santi on the right anyway.

I have absolutely zero faith in Wilshere to be our creative midfielder at this stage. Maybe one day, but It'll be like Ramsey up there all over again. Touch touch touch, run into blind corners, and absolutely zero goal threat. I can't bear it.

The squad is this as paper, but what I like compared to the teams we've had in the past 6-7 years, is that there seems to be plenty of fight in this lot. Both physically and mentally.

Really prefer this new quick counter attacking style of play to the often impotent possession football we played with Cesc in midfield. It relies a lot on Walcott's pace though.

Not a great window but not a disaster either. Signing of Ozil is obviously a blockbuster deal for us, massive show of intent. Think I would of liked to have seen a couple more in though but wasn't meant to be.

Flamini will help plug the gap in midfield and if needed defence so a sensible signing there.

Honestly if Giroud hadn't been scoring we'd be baying for blood because of our summer transfers. But since he is, the signing of "only" Ozil is more palatable. Of course Ozil is a fantastic signing. A star striker and/or winger was bare minimum to be competitive for PL title though. However I think we've got a good squad to compete for fourth.

So we've got three keepers and eighteen outfield players in the first team squad. Plus Sanogo, Frimpong, Zelalem, Bendtner, Akpom and Park as possible squaddies in the most serious of injury crises.

Not bad at all - though if Sagna or Walcott are out for any significant time before Jan we're in trouble.
