Which center forward other than Bendtner was played on the wing? Serious question. He used Wiltord there but then squads were thin and Bergkamp and Henry were first choice. Wiltord played there when Ljungberg was injured which he was a lot. I don't remember Adebayor ever playing on the wing or Giroud. He also barely started Bendtner there but got him on as a sub to exploit his height advantage versus full backs. It also worked at times. Also, Bendtner wasn't good enough as a center forward.
Eisfeld wasn't bought to replace anyone so he is really irrelevant. Anyways, we are more thin than we have been so he will not sell without buying. Over the last few seasons, we have not replaced with adeqaute quality, so I expect him to buy even if just to fill in numbers, if Podolski goes.
I didn't say Eisfeld replaced someone, just that during a window when we had a bit of a crisis with no fullbacks available we didn't sign one and all we signed was someone who 2 years later has still not been seen.
Pretty sure Henry started out on the left, Wiltord played a lot on the right, Reyes played mostly on the left, Eduardo played a decent amount on the left with Adebayor and or Bendtner in the middle, pretty sure Van Persie played on the left initially when Henry and Bergkamp played, Bendtner often played on the right and I recall Wenger making comments about the quality of his crossing. Fair enough on Adebayor and Giroud, but the point still stands on the tendency to try youngish strikers out wide to begin with and I won't be surprised to see Sanogo on the left.
