Really, really good performance. The best I've seen him play since the 2007/08 season, in the Champions League at Anfield. Was right at the heart of about the most fluid 45 minutes I've ever seen us play. This is definitely the most complete performance I've seen him put in to date though.

Hope he goes from strength to strength, and proves what I've said about him recently completely wrong.

This is the second best CM performance I have ever seen post Vieira period. Granted it was 99% perfect, still think Wilshere vs Barca was the best.

🙂 It'd be challenging to praise Diaby to the extremes to which you've slated him during the past weeks Klaus. Obviously a few of his supporters are going to have their day in the sun after weeks of seeing him described as 'not even a footballer' and so on.

To be honest, a lot of us were carrying on about what an upgrade Şahin would be on Diaby, and he may yet prove to be a better player in this league, but there was zero evidence to suggest it when they met on the park yesterday.

It'll be interesting to see if Diaby can stay fit and produce this sort of performance on a regular basis, one in which he reads the game, wins the ball, rarely uses it poorly, and contributes something going forward. He was pretty average last week against Stoke so it's hardly a given.

Great performance... we are alot more dangerous on turn overs with Diaby in the team, something we have missed for a long time.. He is in the role thats suits him best now, surround him with the right players and he can do very well for us.

It isn't hard really. Post Vieira which CM do we have other than Wilshere? Flamini and Denilson? 😆 Cesc isn't a CM. Here we are talking about a complete CM performance, in terms of tackling, bossing the midfield and winning the midfield battle almost singlehandedly. Go on to every other forum who commented about the match, Diaby was the clear MOTM and here we have people who are saying he isn't even the best midfielder on the pitch 😆 Some people just can't stand up and say they are wrong. We saw that with Rosicky last year.

I love this argument 😆 Especially when Cazorla was the guy who scored one, assisted one and was behind practically everything we created apart from a counter or two.

Most of the concern people have about Diaby though stems from the fact that the man is simply made of glass. He's had similar good to great performances in the past, but he hasn't managed to keep it up because he keeps breaking down.

All that being said, the game was wway more open yesterday than we've seen before and that probably helped Diaby a lot. He plays well wehen there is space around him. The moment when we're up against a packed defence he seems to struggle, simply because he's not made for that kind of football imo.

I don't see how you can really compare a dominant, 90 minute, all around performance like Diaby's, with a star turn by Cazorla where he provided half of the two moments that decided the match in our favour and plenty of other classy moments besides, or yet another basically flawless, metronomically consistent job by Arteta.

The debate's obviously a matter of aesthetics, preferences and fixed views in this case, the great thing is that all three had an extremely good day at once.

Yes, well, I'm not the one who's laughing at others for having the nerve to suggest that Diaby's performance wasn't the second greatest in a solid decade.

Seriously people. Get a fucking grip. This is something you'd expect to read at RAWK.

Cazorla DID have a better game. Diaby was great, but very often in the second half he was sucked deep into the box when liverpool had that period of domination. That allowed a lot of shots from outside the box.
Fabregas played 3 seasons as a CM. And put in many many performances better than this.
In no way did diaby boss and handle the midfield singlehandedly. They fuctioned well as a midfield together.

Fabregas had better games in the Champions league run of 2006 alone.
