Was skim reading an article on the use of stats in football the other day. It said that the single most important stat in football is the number of sprints a player is capable of making in every game and they reckoned, if I remember correctly, that Henry was superior to more or less every player in that regard.
It was quite a long piece that covered a few different things, e.g. they said that the number of tackles stat, whether successful or unsuccessful, was useless giving the example that Maldini made exactly one tackle every two games in his entire career. The sprint thing was in relation to "ground covered", which they also said was useless in comparison to the average speed at which those movements were made (which is where Titi came in). If I can find it later I'll post it up.
