Messi is a brilliant play maker. I have to say though, that no one compares to Laudrup when it comes to consistently pulling off outrageous, defense splitting passes. He must have been an absolute dream to play with for a mobile striker.

I know Henry gets a lot of criticism, perhaps rightly, for wrecking Giroud's confidence, but I doubt that's why he fell apart. No top player is that easily manipulated. Plus we've seen this before from Giroud. The minute his fitness isn't peak his performances begin to drag.

The worry is that he was simply in a purple patch that will never return.

He started last season the same way. He'll get off to an excellent start to next season too. But as Klaus has said he relies too much on physicality to open his game up - explosive movements and physical duels with center backs - and it's almost impossible to sustain that for longer than an 8-10 week period in the PL. His feet aren't good and his technical strengths are limited. We just need someone else to rotate / take over when his form drops. Give Giroud 2-3 breaks to recover and get his fitness back periodically and he'll be a decent player for us.

No need to sell Giroud to me.
I recognise his value and, although i want a better striker who can lead us to the title, i still believe we can only achieve this by keeping him to do as you say.
