Pretty interesting that he said the requirements by the board for the subsequent 5 seasons after moving to emirates is to finish in the top 4 for 3 out of 5 seasons. Proved what we all suspected was right during those years.

It was the minimum target which in itself was such a challenge because the board were aware of how hard it would be to challenge for the title with the resources at our disposal then and our need to generate revenue from player sales.

I think Wenger is a good man and we have been lucky to have him as the manager of Arsenal. He could have been more ambitious for his personal self. I really don't think he has it in him to take us to another title but I would be overjoyed if it were to happen.

It actually proves that the board were even less ambitious than people thought - we all thought that CL football was the standard demanded, but Wenger was actually over-delivering from the board's perspective.

The lack of ambition from our board is even more shocking for me considering the times they gave those instructions; at that time Chelsea had become a real force, and there was Man U of course. We were well ahead of everyone else.

As regards what Wenger said I think there is a lot of revisionism in these things. It was Wenger who chose to play the kids in the Carling Cup final in 2007 and it was Wenger who didn'y buy in 2008, 10 and 11 where one signing in the right areas could have led to a title or two. From what I've seen with what he's done in 2013 and 2014 with extra cash just strengthens that. Barring Ozil every single signing has been a project or value signing. Even Sanchez at 32m was a bargain when you look at his Barcelona record and what sort of players went for similar fees.

I think we would have paid more for Alexis if we had to, and I disagree it was a value signing. Yes, it represented great value, but I am convinced Wenger identified that we needed that sort of player in the squad, and he aggressively went for the best one who was available. Signing Alexis certainly shouldn't be a stick to beat Wenger with.

It's quite amusing. Arsenal fans used to boast about how shrewd Wenger was in the transfer market, now he spends £32m for a World Class player and he gets criticised for being a bargain hunter.

It goes back to what Rohit said, everything he does and says is scrutinised with a ridiculously cynical mindset.
