No Biggus your interpretation was that Wenger was never serious about signing Suarez.
That's not borne out by the fact that it looks like we won't sign Suarez.
You cannot prove that you know what his intentions were, most rational comnent would take bidding the required amount to test a release clause as an intention to buy the player without being forced to pay whatever inflated price the selling club impose.
As we've seen over and over the value of a player is defined by how much the buying club are prepared to pay.
Rodgers may think Suarez is worth £50m but if nobody wants to pay that for him then he's clearly not worth £50m.
It doesn't interest me how much Suarez is/is not worth, he's a nasty piece of work and I hate him.
My assertion is if you want a player and you have the money you go after him and you capture him.
Wenger didn't want him enough, I'm sure he would snap him up if he was for free though!
Would you pay any fee, regardless of how ridiculous it is, for the player you want provided we have enough money?
How about 70m on Torres? Would you pay that for a player you want? Or would you reconsider and not capture the target?
