I didn't say a word about Wright-Phillips coming to Arsenal. His career as one of the most exciting footballers in the country ended the day he signed for Chelsea, which is what Wright urged him to do. He made a shit decision, he knows it, his dad knows it, everyone knows it. And now he's a Championship footballer at 31.

reasons i want us to sign suarez:
-we desperately need a striker
-suarez is a world class player
-would signal a newfound level of ambition here (improve our reputation)

so get it done arsene. don't care if he end up costing us £50 mill. still worth it.

why? Not that I intend to continue the SWP discussion (I never intended for it to get this far hence my initial very brief response) but I beleive it is relevant to the thread because Wright suggested he would advise Suarez not to join and someone suggested that he gave similar advise to SWP and his career took a nosedive. We are simply discussing the merits of that statement in the context of Suarez achieving his professional ambitions with us, a topic that surely Suarez will surely be considering before deciding whether to join us or whether to use us as a stepping stone.

he pretty much said so to that uruguayan reporter a while back. no doubt he'd be willing to join us. the question is whether we can come to an agreement with liverpool. i think we're waiting to see what happens with this release clause debacle. if it is as liverpool say and it is pointless, i think we'll make a massive bid (ca. 50 mill) close to the transfer deadline.

I do, yes.
When he first spoke about leaving Liverpool in May he was very much focused on also leaving England.
Whether Madrid will want him, even if Bale doesn't work out, is another question.
I imagine that his people would represent on his behalf though, think they're just playing a waiting game at the moment.

I don't think anythng depends on Bale, Bale deal will go through. Any player is replaceable for 100m and Spurs know that. I don't think Madrid want Suarez, also I think Suarez will end up here for 45m tops!

There's no guarantee they'd accept at this stage. We need him to take it to get to a point where they know it's no use keeping him, then he'll be ours for another 5m or whatever is enough for them to save some face.
