We won't go near that, we won't have to.

Fellani and Suarez would be phenomenal....which is why I dont think it'll happen.

Slim chance of Suarez judging by all the activity that's been going on.

Any news on Fellaini recently? Seems like the rumour has died.

Looks like Manchester United are going to bid for him once they're done wasting their time on Fabregas.

Well that means Rooney is surely leaving.

Someone saying there is a rumour Chelsea will bid too.

I don't think anyone knows what is happening.

Isn't his release clause only valid until mid August or something stupid like that? Surprised there hasn't been any movement.

Who will pay 22 mil for a water carrier.

Hopefully we get Suarez by next week. I know Real Madrid is not going pay 40 mil for him

Come end of August on deadline day, and we still haven't made any striking addition, I could see us doing a Chelsea and bid 50m for him. Don't think we will ever reach 55m. Wenger is not the kind who ever gives in to demands.

That could be a problem, Clrnc. I suspect that it would have been good for Wenger to give in to Real Madrid's demands this summer. We would've had a top striker in the bag, and could now be focusing on strengthening midfield and defense.

The Suarez transfer poses two problems for us. First, it is extending our search for a striker into late summer. Second, it signals to other teams we have money, so our bargaining position for the rest of the summer has been weakened. If you want Fellaini, for example, Everton will just say "give us some of that Suarez money or get lost"

You don't think spending 32 mill on someone would do that?

£55m is nearly quadrupling our record fee.

42 and 32 million feel like different ballparks. Only Chelsea have spent more than that on the vanity purchase that was Torres. In the context of this summer, 32m pounds would have been a bit lost in the noise. 42m suggests we are one of the big boys. None of the self-sustaining clubs (Bayern, United, etc), have spent that much on a player as well.

And 32 is more than doubling it.

55 million or 32 million. It doesn't really matter. Both show we've got a bit to throw around.

Bosscielny there is also a massive difference between 32 million Euros you have already spent and 44m Euros you have not spent when your'e dealing with other clubs.

Madrid saw we could afford 25 and they thought they'd take advantage of us.

Gazidiz jumping up and down telling everyone we could afford Rooney's wages probably tipped a few teams off too.

That's a good point.

Madrid hardly thought we were poor when we launched or initial quest to sign Huguain.
The fact that were in for him in the first place showed everyone our transfer targets had shifted up a gear this season.

Is that Higuain with a New Zealand accent?

Nope - it's auto corrected incorrectly 🙂
So you think Madrid would have caved in and sold Higuain to us for less than they sold him to Napoli if Gazidis had kept quiet then?
I don't.
