Michu or Dzeko plus a top midfeilder or defender is equally a huge statement and perhaps even more effective use of funds.

It's not like we are going to win the league because we sign Suarez.

Dzeko is far easier to deal with than someone like Suarez; just cut off his supply and don't give him much space. Suarez on the otherhand is a nightmare to handle, he's one of the best players in tight spaces and playing in confined spaces is probably the most difficult thing to do in football.

I'd rather sign Vucinic than someone like Dzeko given the forwards at our dispoval. He(Vucinic) has got that magic that top class footballers have, it's no surprise he regularly scores big goals, he is just not consistent enough over the course of a season.

So why choose Suarez (with all that baggage) if the final results are going to be the same?

besides, if would sign, for the sake of the argument, gustavo and michu/dzeko, we could easily afford to sign gustavo and suarez. saying we could spend the money "better" by signing two other players is a false dilemma. we could do both; sign a midfielder and suarez.

Suarez can create more goals on his own, whilst dzeko relies on service. We need more than dzeko and we need someone more reliable than Suarez.

Because Suarez will add more magic, unpredictability, creativity(severely lacking!) etc to our attack.

Just look at what he's added to Liverpool's attack since he joined them; they used to be one of the most unimaginative teams going forward but they have been very creative with him in the side over the past 2 season . I think I read somewhere they were the team that created the most chances in Europe last season. Yes of course, playing more of a passing game has helped, but they don't have a Carzola or Wilshere, Coutinhno only started playing around February I think. He's at the centre of almost everything they do going forward.

Not that I agree, but what Arsenal striker doesn't get service?

Dzeko was unplayable at Wolfsburg and for his run as a starter at Man City. As a starter at Arsenal, he would be a massive candidate for top scorer.

Adebayor, vp despite their goals didn't really replace Henry because they mainly relied on service for goals. Dzeko would fit the bill and score a good amount but we need more than that to challenge for the title.

20+ goals a season with fights, fines, suspensions galore leading to Giroud/Gervinho/Bendt/Makh upfront for prolonged period, name trashed and dragged through the mud, forced transfer to RM after one year leading to another striker search, diving, spitting, tantrams, destro ...

Hmm, tough choice!

United just walked the league with VanPersie and no central midfield to speak of.

Henry created shed load of chances himself. A lesser player(Hasselbaink for example) could have probably scored the same number of goals but we'd have been nowhere the same team.

Everyone, and I mean absolutely everyone, relies on some sort of service for goals.

If you're trying to say that a guy like Vanpersie can't score without being fed the ball two yards from goal, than you are insane.

If you're saying he needs a different type of service to someone like Walcott, than fine, but don't get carried away.

Blokes like Henry may score 4-5 individual goals a season that make us all sit up and take notice but he also rarely went in for the brave chances in the six yard box and he didn't score often with his head. It's just a different approach with the same result.

VanPersie was our go to guy for two solid seasons, let's not pretend he needed chances handed to him on a plate. Neither does Dzeko.
