The atmosphere at the Emirates turned astonishingly poisonous. Some may say it was always coming but I wasn't expecting the crowd to turn on Wenger the way they did. The more points we drop the more venomous it will get and isn't ideal. No point asking Wenger to go after the transfer window. It will be incredibly hard for anyone coming in.

It's quite annoying when Wenger bigs up 4th place but if we miss out on CL next season, it will take a while before we get back in it again. I don't know, I might not be being rational right now, yesterday was tough but something big needs to happen between now and 2 September 2013.

Instead of moaning and getting depressed I think we need to change our mental frame as gooners.

Lets celebrate the fact that this is Wenger's last season. Thinking about creating a 'clock down to Wenger out' thread.

As a result I don't car e what happens this season anymore. I can't wait for next year! Bring on 2014/2015 baby!

Obviously but I was more talking about Arsene having been an admirer of the man as you would know.

May be the most upset people are the ones that thought he was the right man for the job. So many chances for him to have a graceful exit. This is what I meant when I said, wish it had not come to driving him out.

why not? it's obvious that the problem is not just the lack of signings. wenger also seems to be clueless about how to get the best out of the players who are already here.

That is every year of frustration since the move with everything we have been told about how we would compete with the european elite and the amount of money we have stashed away and still being told we will use it to further the club and getting what? Nothing.

Its turned on Wegner as he is in control of these things rightly or wrongly and its clear that he cannot do the job anymore, there is little to be positive about at arsenal other than we still have a considerable amount of money to spend. However Arsene won't spend and if he does it will be a waste just like 90% of the players we have brought in recently have been.

This toxic atmosphere was coming for a long time and I'm glad for it in a way as its telling the club things aren't right and they need to be changed.

As fans we've been massively patient. We swallowed the line of the Emirates leaving us struggling and we coped for a few years. There are no excuses now though. We have the money yet are not spending. Something stinks at the club and the fan-base is now fed up. We've had enough. Wenger has 2 weeks to save our season, otherwise its only going to get uglier.

I suspect you're right now. I no longer believe Wenger is getting the best from the squad he has, let alone preparing it with adequate depth & quality. He's finished, has been for quite a while, but finally I think the world can see.

I don't know about that. I am not convinced and it isn't the admiration that I have had for Wenger which speaks, but very few managers in world football could have got to 75 points with the squad and players we had last season. That's what I think.

His negligence is borderline criminal though, unforgivable to say the least. This transfer window from Arsenal will be the worst by any club in the history of football. He is subverting almost intentionally any chance we have of competing.

Absolutely terribly as he has the ability to do whatever he wants here with a huge financial backing, he is done as a manager and has been left behind on so many levels its not even funny.

Take for example the gervinho transfer. Even if you think the player is decent and can do a job, the guy is going to miss a large proportion of the next two seasons going to a major international cup comp in jan. So he won't even be at the club proper for 2 years and you go and sign him anyway with his absolute lack of technical ability, that's just a criminal waste of money and a position in the 25 man squad.

He would still be making these stupid moves at another club and his lack of tactical awareness and balance are laughable in the modern era.

For a club at the top level that may be true, he will do terribly if he doesn't change his ways.

At a mid-table club, may be very well. It's all relative to expectations and Arsenal are supposed to be a top club, an expectation he enabled in establishing.

We went through long periods last season, particularly before Christmas, where it looked like the players weren't really giving 100%, and the manager seemed powerless to put the brakes on. We're going to see the same again, unless the manager buys quickly.

Wenger's been making up as he goes along since Fabregas left. Whatever your thoughts about Arsenal 2007–2011, at least it had an identity and looked like the way we set out was deliberate. I don't think Wenger's heart is in this or he's completely out of ideas. Either way, he'll not be at the club this time next year.

Looking at the 6 British players on the Emirates facade and on the pitch at the same time, it's evident the sort of identity the club is trying to build but it can't come without results and the players being good enough in this day and age.

Yeah but am identity in terms of what we're at least trying to do. Brendan Rogers took a bunch of Liverpool players and at least got them trying to change their game a little, it didn't work overnight because they weren't good enough but you at least felt there was a plan.

I've thought that before though and the moment passes

the moment always passes. we've been through this prob two dozen times in the last 3-4 years. but over the course of a 38 game season, we end up where our massive financial resources suggest we should end up (4th place), and the peons renew their season tickets.

the most powerful thing we can all do is stop giving our money to kroenke, but 60k people still pay silly money to watch turgid football in a mediocre atmosphere on saturdays at ashburton grove, or buy jerseys or whatever garbage they're selling on arsenal.com.

True in that sense but that will always be linked to the manager and more often than not it remains consistent. If anything Wenger has built teams with different identies over his reign. You're right, not quite sure what he is trying to do right now with this set of players. The football is chaotic if I can use that word but I don't know if that is due to the lack of a plan or players trying to execute a manager's brand they aren't suited to playing.

2007-2008 was the high water mark of the trophyless period. Only 4 PL losses, beautiful football; I'd take those type of seasons again...what am I saying!?
